William Kiyoshi Wentz (Bill), age 61 of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 12:41 PM Saturday, January 27, 2018 in Terre Haute, Indiana. He retired from Eastern Illinois University as a Union Carpenter. Beyond his work at E.I.U., he built new houses and condominiums in Colorado, and he worked on the restoration of the Kensington in Paris.
Bill was born October 17, 1956 in Effingham, Illinois to Misao Terada Wentz and William A. Wentz. He lived in Centralia as a child, as well as Japan, where he attended Chofu Middle School. He graduated from Paris High School in 1974.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He enjoyed spending time with his sons, attending air shows, concerts, building model air planes, and exploring the Rocky Mountains. He was an outdoorsman, an expert deer hunter, a skilled photographer, and an outspoken advocate for justice. He was known for his wit and his willingness to help others.
He married Sandy Blair (later divorced) and devoted his life to his children. He is survived by his sons, Jason Wentz of Plainfield, Indiana, and Michael Wentz of Martinsville, Illinois; his grandson Tyeson Wentz of Martinsville; his sisters Yoshiko Wentz of Peoria, and Mary Heckler of Danville; and his niece and nephews Kris, Kara, and Kenny Heckler. He was preceded in death by his mother, Misao Terada Wentz.
Following cremation, future services will be held in Japan and Colorado. There is no scheduled visitation, but keep looking up.
