William Edwin "Ed" Gladney, age 85, passed away at 3:16 p.m. on January 16, 2026, at Providence Health Care in St. Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana.

He was born on November 19, 1940, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Joseph E. and Eileen (Jameson) Gladney. Ed married Janet Kay McDonald in Centralia, Missouri on August 12, 1962, and resided there for more than forty years prior to relocating to Georgetown, Illinois and she survives.

He studied electrical engineering before becoming a self-employed business owner throughout his life. Ed's life embodied his Christian values; quiet and steadfast, he honored God, cared deeply for his family and was truly generous with his time and talents.

He is survived by his wife, Kay Gladney; his daughter, Jill Mattingly (Mark); and two grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Bryant Gladney.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
