William Riley "Bill" Shepard's Obituary
William Riley "Bill" Shepard, age 67 of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 5:45 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Union Hospital, Terre Haute, Indiana. Bill was retired from the Paris, Illinois City Water Department. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, a Life Member of VFW Post 3601, and was a member of Prairie Masonic Lodge # 77 AF & AM. Bill will be remembered as a compassionate man and a hard worker. He had many friends. Born October 4, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of the late Emmett J. and Margaret E. "Maggie" (Donohue) Shepard. He married Barbara Ann (Griffin) Shepard April 20, 1996 at the First Christian Church in Paris, Illinois and she survives. Other survivors include two children, Adam Shepard of Paris, Illinois and Matthew Shepard of Rockville, Indiana, two step-children, Peggy Sue (James) Dennison of Brodhead, Kentucky and Carol Sue Trizzle of Mattoon, Illinois, siblings; Ellen (Dan) Heeres, Mary (James) Roussell, John Shepard, Joseph Shepard, and Richard (Renee) Shepard, all of Chicago, Illinois, six grandchildren, nine nieces and nephews, and his close friend Dick Ellingsworth. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Michael Shepard, and a nephew Tommy Roussell. Bill also wanted his two cats, Tiegar and Spunky to be mentioned. Visitation for Bill will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, May 28, 2016 in Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home with Military Honors to be conducted at 5:00 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Interment is private.
