Virginia Lee Gumm, 97, of Danville, IL formerly of Georgetown passed away at 8:20 p.m., Friday February 7, 2020 at Hawthorne Inn in Danville.

She was born November 5, 1922 in Stafford, Yell County, Arkansas the daughter of the late George Henry and Anna Lee (McKinney) Wooley. Virginia married Walter Gumm February 14, 1940 in Terre Haute, IN. He preceded her in death August 21, 2007.

She is survived by her children: Jackie Gumm of Danville, Jennifer (Robert) Pendley of Paris, Judy (Harlan) Chapman of Warrenville, George Gumm of Georgetown and Walter W. "Bill" (Connie) Gumm of Sidell; her 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; her brothers: David Henry Wooley of California and William Gene Wooley of San Antonio, Texas.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son in infancy: David Lynn Gumm, and her grandson George Cody Gumm and her brothers Charles William Wooley and George Dale Wooley.

She was employed at Tee-Pak, Inc. (Viscofan) for 27 years. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Paris and at one time was an active member of the Ladies Aide. She had served as president of Piankeshaw Chapter, PSI and Vermilion Valley Quilters. Virginia became a member of the Governor Bradford Chapter NSDAR on June 5, 2015 in Danville.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday February 12, 2020 at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home 303 E. Wood St, Paris.

Burial will be in Edgar Cemetery.

Visitation is from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made in Virginia's name to the Illiana Genealogical and Historical Society in Danville, Illinois or the charity of the donor's choice.
