Velma J. Wright's Obituary
Velma J. Wright, age 93 of Kansas, Illinois, passed away at 6:45 p.m. Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Paris Health Care Center, Paris. She was a clerk for Lee's Nursery and Greenhouse in Charleston for several years. She also had been employed at Zenith Corp. and the Kansas Post Office. Born October 11, 1921 in Newton, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Curtis and Lillian (Kuykendall) Hawkins. She married William Dale Wright March 24, 1940 in Ashmore. He preceded her in death January 12, 1971. Survivors include a son Danny Wright and his wife Kathy of Kansas, a granddaughter Valerie Simpson and her husband Ron of Kansas, a step-grandson Andy Gano of Oakland, and five step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers James Hawkins and Harry Hawkins. Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 10, 2015 in Fairview Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home in Paris assisted the family with the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to charity of the donor's choice.
