Thomas Blain Rhodes, age 89 of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Burnsides Community Health Center in Marshall, Illinois. Mr. Rhodes was a farmer, a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Paris, Knights of Columbus Council 860, Knights of Columbus 4 ^th Degree Assembly 219, Elks BPOE 812, Edgar County Farm Bureau, and was formerly on the Edgar County Board. Born April 27, 1928 in Moultrie County, Illinois, he was the son of the late Blain Frank Rhodes and the late Dortha Anita (Travis) Rhodes. He married Mary Jane (Sullivan) Rhodes November 12, 1949 in Hume, Illinois and she survives. Other survivors include seven children; Joseph L. Rhodes and his wife Donna of Fishers, Indiana, Marian T. Lietard of Danville, Illinois, Martin T. Rhodes and his wife Anita of Paris, Illinois, Robert S. Rhodes of Lillie Lake, Illinois, Louis M. Rhodes and his wife Kathy of Champaign, Illinois, Bernard B. Rhodes and his wife Teri of Zeigler, Illinois, and James A. Rhodes of Johnson City, Illinois, one sister Martha Carr of Villa Grove, Illinois, one brother Jackie Rhodes of Yuma, Arizona, Fourteen grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister Mary Tipsword. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Paris with Rev. Fr. Ronald Hilt officiating. A celebration of life will follow the service. Interment is private. Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
