Terrell "Terry" W. Sturgell, age 72, of Paris, Illinois passed away at 6:20 A.M. on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 15, 2023  at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Edgar Cemetery.

Terry was born on December 17, 1950 in Paris, Illinois to William M. and Lela Catherine (Brown) Sturgell. He married Debora Kay Walters on August 30, 1975 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Paris, she survives.

In his younger years, Terry was an insurance agent for Prudential and Holley Insurance before following his passion and farming for almost 40 years. Terry was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church and former member Trinity United Methodist Church in Paris. He was a former Paris City Council Commissioner, Edgar County Farm Bureau director and past president, a Crestwood School bus driver, Paris Jaycees, Prairie Masonic Lodge #77, Edgar County Ambulance Board and was instrumental in the implementation of the 911 system.

Terry was avid Fighting Illini, Chicago Bears, and St. Louis Cardinals fan. He enjoyed reading, especially historical books. He also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, watching TV and was a former basketball referee, high school Sunday school teacher, and a member of the Edgar County Farm Bureau Bowling League, as well as a member of the Mens Club at church.

He is survived by his wife: Debora "Debbie" Kay Sturgell of Paris, Illinois; his children: Kris Sturgell (Jaime Rukstales) of Gurnee, Illinois, Travis (Stefanie) Sturgell of Paris, Illinois; his two grandchildren: Kade Ray and Jones Sturgell; and his siblings: Mark Sturgell of Decatur, Illinois, Becky Guthrie of St. Charles, Missouri, Betty Kay Lammle of Olathe, Kansas, Cindy Muchow of Paris, Illinois.

Terry is preceded in death by his parents: William M. and Lela Catherine Sturgell.
