Stephen L. "Steve" Craig, age 75, of Paris, Illinois went home to be with our Lord, passing away peacefully at home surrounded by family at 4:10 P.M. on Wednesday, August 30, 2023.
Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home. Burial will be in Franklin Cemetery in Chrisman, Illinois.
Steve was born on July 2, 1948 in Paris, Illinois to Arthur and Erma L. (Ashley) Craig.
He was a lifelong Paris resident and was a foundry worker at GM in Danville, Illinois for over 30 years.
Steve was a United Auto Workers Union member and a member of local car clubs. He was an avid car and motorcycle enthusiast. In his younger years, he enjoyed dancing and loved listening to music, especially The Silvertones. Steve never met a stranger. Above all else, he loved his family, kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.
He is survived by his children: Stephen A. (Lori) Craig of Terre Haute, Indiana, Amy (Ed) Suits of Mooresville, Indiana; his sister: Shirley L. Craig of Paris, Illinois; his grandchildren: Roman (Jaimie) Craig, Jordan Anderson; his great grandchildren: Evalynn Craig, and Silas Craig; his special caregiver, great friend and known as "Kid", Bridget Daughtery, a special little Kodda who knew him as "Poppy"; and a special little Grayson.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother: Ronald Craig.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to Carle Hospice.
