Stephen Dennis Grant's Obituary

God called Stephen Dennis "Denny" Grant home on March 31, 2021, at the age of 83 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Denny, a man of great faith, died peacefully surrounded by his beloved wife Karen, children and grandchildren.

Denny moved to Paris, Illinois as a young boy. The son of William and Mary Eleanor Grant, his father was president of the Citizens National Bank and his mother was a math teacher at Mayo School. He grew up with his brother, Richard and the two boys kept their parents very busy with their funny shenanigans.

Denny was a very good golfer and was often found on the golf course with his friends. He was captain of the Paris High School golf team and it was there, at school, where he met his childhood sweetheart, Karen, his wife of 62 years.

Karen's parents, Wayne and Violet Blume owned the Blume Stewart funeral home where Denny spent many summers working alongside Wayne at the funeral home and keeping an eye out for Karen.

Denny went on to graduate from the University of Illinois on a golf scholarship. After that, he joined the Campbell Sales Company where he had an illustrious sales executive career spanning over 38 years. Each promotion brought a move to a new state, new adventures and new friends. He was well respected and loved by all who knew him. Denny's sense of humor and storytelling style led him to have many friends. He was always so interested in everyone.

Denny is survived by his wife, Karen, his three children, daughter Lori Koehler, and her husband Ron, son Stephen Grant, and his wife Tammy, son Todd Grant, and his wife Alecia, grandchildren, Matthew Koehler, Kaitlin Grant, Maegan Koehler, Andrew Grant, Annie Koehler, Lauren Grant, Bradley Grant, great grandchildren Kiara and Brayden Yao, brother Richard, and his wife Anne.

An avid grill master and golf enthusiast, for Denny, the simple pleasures were the best part of life - being with family and friends while sharing a story and a laugh.

There will be a visitation for friends and family on April 19 th between 3 -7 p.m. at the Stewart Carroll Funeral Home with a private graveside service for family the next day.

In Denny's honor, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org or the Arizona Small Dog Rescue at https://azsmalldog.org .
