Roy Edward Pitts, age 74 of Vermilion, Illinois, passed away at 2:13 p.m. Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Paris Community Hospital Emergency Room. He was a welder for Danville Metal Stamping for 31 years, and also had been a welder for MECO. He was a member of State Line Christian Church. Roy was a United States Air Force Veteran. Born November 2, 1941 in Scotland, Illinois, he was the son of the late Hallie and Ruby (Todd) Pitts. He married Sharon K. (Hunt) Pitts October 26, 1960 in St. Bernice, Indiana and she survives. Other survivors include a son Brent Pitts and his wife Greta of Paris, Illinois, a sister Jean Eastham of Vermilion, Illinois, and three grandchildren; Kara Pitts, Jessica Pitts, and Caleb Pitts, all of Paris, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant children, Connie and Barry Pitts, and five siblings; James Pitts, Thelma Tosser, Clarence Pitts, Hazel Irish, and Wayne Pitts. Visitation for Mr. Pitts will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2016 in Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2016 in Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home with Pastor John Puckett and Bro. Don Pruiett officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
