Rosemary Elsberry, age 89 of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 7:00 a.m. Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Cobblestone Crossing Health Campus in Terre Haute, Indiana. Mrs. Elsberry was a homemaker and had been secretary at Roger Fruin's law office. She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church at North Arm, a member of, and on the state board for the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and was a member of and won numerous awards with the Edgar County Home Extension. Rosemary was very active in her community and her church.

Born January 17, 1929 in Paris, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late John R. and Ethel (Dunn) Mattingly. She married Ivan Francis Elsberry February 23, 1949 in the rectory at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Paris. Mr. Elsberry passed away March 23, 2006. Survivors include seven children; Raymond Francis (Cheryln) Elsberry of Paris, Illinois, Maurine Rose Tapscott of San Antonio, Texas, Robert Ivan Elsberry of Paris, Illinois, Rita Ann Alexander of Paris, Illinois, Teresa Jane Elsberry of Terre Haute, Indiana, Lawrence Allen (Misty) Elsberry of Paris, Illinois, and Michael Thomas Elsberry of Arthur, Illinois, two siblings, Janet Carrington of Redmon, Illinois and Richard (Janis) Mattingly of Dallas, Texas, fourteen grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two infant sons, one daughter, Barbara Jean Lishin, five brothers; Francis Mattingly, John E. Mattingly, Leon Mattingly, Fr. Allen Mattingly, and Phillip Mattingly, and four sisters; Catherine Duzan, Loretta Fitzgerald, Betty Jean Zack, and Phyllis Waller.

The Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2018 at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home with visitation to follow from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2018 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church at North Arm with Rev. Fr. Valery Burusu officiating.
