In 1980 she retired from Cornell University with the title of Professor Emeritus. The book was also used by manufacturers of household equipment, kitchen designers, and professionals working with people with physical limitations. The book was also translated into Japanese. Her interests included genealogy, traveling, nature, and birding. She was preceded in death by parents Dominic and Viola Rose Steidl, two brothers, Raymond and Charles, two sisters Virginia and Mary Ida Riedell. She is survived by one sister, Sister Martha, two brothers Frank and Walter, and many nieces and nephews. Her family will miss her kindness, generous spirit, and sense of humor. Should anyone desire, the family suggests memorial donations be made to a favorite charity of one's choice. A private graveside service and burial will be held in the spring. Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home is assisting the family with the local arrangements.
