Rosa Christina Trapp's Obituary

Rosa Christina Dahmus Trapp passed the morning of December 30, 2015 at Paris Community Hospital. She was born in Mt. Carmel, North Dakota, on April 26, 1916. She grew up in Jerseyville, Illinois in a hard-working German family. She attended the University of Illinois where she met her future husband, John. She attended cosmetology school and practiced her trade for many years. They lived in Illinois-Chester, Georgetown and from 1965 in Paris, IL. Rosa had a strong German work ethic. She worked extremely hard raising eight children and being a farmer's wife. She could do everything from wallpapering a room like a pro to sewing a pair of shorts from a flour sack. She volunteered countless hours serving at all of the Catholic parishes to which she belonged over the years. Rosa was the joke teller of the family. At all family gatherings, she entertained everyone by telling jokes only she could tell so well. After retiring from the child-rearing years, she and John traveled. There were many fishing trips to Minnesota, extensive travel in Europe and countless winters spent in the wine areas of Napa and Sonoma in CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, John. They were married for 68 years. She was also preceded in death by her mother and father, Rosa and Henry Dahmus; brothers, Monsignor Bede, Joseph, Roman, Maurice, and Rudolph Dahmus; and sisters, Sister Mary Dunstan, Pauline Dahmus and Great Grandson Kyle Trapp. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Paul and Opal Trapp of Westville, Illinois, Mary Ann Brown of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Rosemary and Silas Lake of Belmont, California, Walter and Judy Trapp of Paris, Illinois, Louis and Ingrid Trapp of Miami, Florida, Marci and Terry Laughlin of Paris, Illinois, Michael and Patricia Trapp of Elmhurst, Illinois, James and Marta Trapp of Indianapolis, Indiana; 15 grandchildren, Carl, Donna, Julie, Christina, Matthew, Meghan, Kevin, Laurie, Steven, Tricia, Ashley, Michelle, Brittany, Mark and Daniel; many great, great-great grandchildren and numerous friends. Following cremation, a memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 4, 2016 in Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2016 in St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. David Zimmerman officiating. Interment of the cremains will be held at a later date in St. Mary's Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's School or St. Mary's Cemetery.
