Robert Eugene Mattingly's Obituary
Robert Eugene Mattingly, age 80 of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Paris Community Hospital Emergency Room. He was a farmer, a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, a member of Knights of Columbus Council 860, a Fourth Degree member of Knights of Columbus Assembly 219 of Paris, a member of American Legion Post 211, and a member of Elks BPOE 812.
Born December 30, 1937 in Buck Township, Edgar County, Illinois, he was the son of the late Eugene and Mary Elizabeth (Heckler) Mattingly. He married Sarah Elizabeth Day February 21, 1981 in Paris; she passed away July 28, 2017.
Survivors include three children; Sherry (John) Bowman of Albany, Georgia, Diana Melton of Redmon, Illinois, and Robert Morecraft, Sr. of Paris, Illinois, nine grandchildren; Jeremy Thomey, B.J. Thomey, Christopher Kearce, Jamaica White, Samantha White, John F. White II, Amea Morecraft, Robert Morecraft, Jr., and Damon Morecraft, and 18 great grandchildren.
Visitation for Mr. Mattingly will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2018 in Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home with Rosary recitation at 3:30 p.m. Monday. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2018 in St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Ronald Hilt officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post 211 and VFW Post 3601. Memorial contributions may be made to Knights of Columbus Council 860.
