Robert Lee Glidewell, 87, of Georgetown, Il. passed away at 1:37 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at OSF Healthcare in Urbana, Illinois.

Celebration of life will be held at a later date. Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Robert was born on December 26, 1937, in Hunter Township, the son of the late Johnnie Dale and Ethel Aleene Devall Glidewell. He married his wife Charlotte on January 5, 1956, in Henderson, Kentucky. She survives.

Robert proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. After his time in the military, Robert went to work as a Millwright for General Motors and later as a truck driver. Outside of work, Robert enjoyed many hobbies. One of his favorite past times was taking Charlotte on a long road trip on his motorcycle. Robert was a long-time member of Pleasure Riders M.C., he enjoyed watching dirt track motorcycle racing, and was always in the mood for a cold beer in the garage. Of all the things Robert enjoyed, he was always the happiest when he was surrounded by his family, especially his grandchildren. And he always made sure to tell anyone who would listen, about the time he drank a beer with Elvis while they were stationed over in Germany.

Robert is survived by his wife: Charlotte of Georgetown; his sons: Robert Glidewell of Georgetown, Brad Glidewell (Holly) of Covington, Indiana; his grandchildren: Candy, Robert Michael, Lois, Megan, Brooke, Grace, Makiah, Trystan, Samuel; several great-grandchildren, and several step-grandchildren.

He is preceded by his daughter: Cherri Klinkow; his siblings: Lorretta Moore, Donald Glidewell, and Shirley Swanson.
