Robert Athon Griffin, age 73 of Paris, Illinois peacefully passed away at 11:10 P.M. on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at his home surrounded by family.

Private graveside services will be held. Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Robert was born on September 5, 1951, in Paris, Illinois to Robert Dale and Edith Maxine (McConkey) Griffin.

Robert retired from the City of Mattoon as a water treatment plant operator. He enjoyed spending his time gardening, hunting, fishing and loved his pets. Robert also found great joy in coaching his children's sports teams and enjoyed every moment spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his children: Scott Griffin, of Mattoon, Illinois, Brad Griffin (Tosha Lowry) of Mattoon, Illinois, Brian Griffin of Mattoon, Illinois, and Kelly and Kate of Ohio; his grandchildren: Dallas Boyer, Jordyn Griffin, Hanna Griffin, Kayley Griffin, Hunter Griffin, Marissah Griffin; his siblings: Jean Elledge and Jim Griffin; and several nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings: Barbara Griffin, Judy Jenkins, Ruthie LaBaume, Linda Keefer, and Kenneth Griffin.
