Robert 'Bob' Franklin Campbell, 86, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2013, surrounded by dozens of loved ones. He was a resident of Paris, Ill., and a former resident of Sebring, Fla. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His family will miss his lively spirit, sense of humor, and one-of-a-kind sayings.
Mr. Campbell was born on May 17, 1927, in Vermilion, Ill., to James and Nell (Hickman) Campbell. He married LaDonna Joan Miller on May 17, 1947, in Marshall, Ill.
He served in World War II as part of the Seabees and was then employed as an OTR driver by Carstensen Freight Lines. After retiring, he and his wife owned and operated a bed and breakfast in Sebring, Fla., until they returned to Paris in 2009. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 211 and Lake Ridge Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife, LaDonna Joan (Miller) Campbell, of Paris, Ill., and two sisters, Katherine Trueblood, of Danville, Ill., and Delores (Rocky) Nelson of Terre Haute, Ind. He is also survived by four daughters and three sons: Judy (Del) Pufahl of Paris, Ill.; Michael (Glenda) Campbell of Morris, Ill.; LaDonna (Gerald) McBride of Flower Mound, Texas; Tina Campbell of Paris, Ill.; Douglas Campbell of Houghton Lake, Mich.; Susanna Campbell of Paris, Ill.; and Kendall (Nisa) Campbell of Brazil, Ind.
Mr. Campbell was a proud grandfather and is survived by 26 grandchildren: Ed (Amie) McCombs of Austin, Texas; Theresa (Divini) Luccioni of Slidell, La.; Kevin McCombs of Clinton, Mass.; Dale (Cindy) Pufahl of Harvest, Ala.; Sherry Dipentino of Arvada, Colo.; Mike Pufahl of Denver, Colo.; Michelle (Scott) Flora of New Albany, Ind.; Kurt (Jennifer) Campbell of Loveland, Colo.; Sarah (Tony) Foster of Sandwich, Ill.; Scott (Jennifer Mager) Campbell of Knoxville, Tenn.; Erik (Beth) Treudt of Tallahassee, Fla.; Heather (Mike) Cabin of Lombard, Ill.; Geoff (Alicia Waite) McBride of Portland, Ore.; Gregg (Jodi) McBride of Jordan, Minn.; Jennifer Wiley of Stonington, Maine; Chris (Wendy) Chapman of Paris, Ill.; Crystal (Kevin) Dielman of Paris, Ill.; Stacey (Josh) Rigdon of Paris, Ill.; Kathryn (Gary) Vineyard of Westland, Mich.; Stephen Campbell of Houghton Lake, Mich.; Susan (Dave Hulka) Campbell of Bay City, Mich.; Shannon Littleton of Springfield, Ill.; Tara Littleton of Champaign, Ill.; Jonathan Campbell of Paris, Ill.; Mercedes Rohrer of Brazil, Ind.; and Phillip Campbell of Brazil, Ind. He is also survived by 29 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Campbell was preceded in death by his father, James Campbell of Terre Haute, Ind.; his mother, Nell (Hickman) Campbell of Terre Haute, Ind.; a brother, Roy Campbell; and a daughter, Debra Jean Treudt of Ormand Beach, Fla.
Following cremation, a celebration of life will be held at Stewart & Carroll Funeral Home in Paris, Ill . , on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 4:30 p.m. with visitation from 3:30 p.m. to service time.
