Robert E. Alexander's Obituary

Robert E. Alexander, age 86 of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 4:25 a.m. Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Paris Health Care Center. He was a railroad clerk for New York Central, Penn Central, and Conrail. Mr. Alexander was a United State Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, a member of the National Rifle Association, and a member of American Legion Post 211. Born May 4, 1930 in Edgar County, Illinois, he was the son of the late Homer and Winnie (Waggoner) Alexander. He married Mary Catherine (Halloran) Alexander June 12, 1954 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Paris and she survives. Other survivors include two sons Gregory Alexander and his wife Tina of Paris, Illinois and Douglas Alexander and his wife Brenda of Darnstadt, Indiana, four grandchildren; Casie Dennison and her husband Brad of Franklin, Tennessee, Jamie Guess and her husband Nick of McCutchanville, Indiana, Kyle Alexander of Paris, Illinois, and Aaron Alexander of Edwardsville, Illinois and three great-grandchildren; Khloe, Crew, and Harlow. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Donald L. Alexander. Visitation for Mr. Alexander will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 12, 2017 in Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Private graveside services and interment will be in Edgar Cemetery. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the National Rifle Association or American Legion Post 211.
