"Dick" Vice
September 5, 1931 – February 4, 2024
Richard L. "Dick" Vice, age 92 of Paris, Illinois passed away at 4:40 A.M. on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at Twin Lakes Rehab.
Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Funeral Service will immediately follow at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Edgar Cemetery, with Military Rites conducted by American Legion Post #211.
Dick was born on September 5, 1931 to Walter Mitchell and Mary Collinell (Green) Vice. He married Patricia Simes on July 1, 1956 in Paris. She preceded him in death on December 15, 2021.
Dick served his country as a member in the United States Navy. He worked at the Paris Beacon News for over 55 years. He was a longtime member of the Paris Christian Church. Dick was also a member in the American Legion Post #211, the local Watch Association and Coin Club. He had a love for horses and enjoyed attending the Hambletonian, Palestine Labor Day Rodeo and the Edgar County Fair harness races since age 10. Aside from spending time with his family he loved being an avid prankster.
He is survived by his son: Stephen (Deborah) Vice; his grandchildren: Brooke (Brent) Bishop, Chelsea (Todd) Abu-Seir, Alexis "Ali" (Todd) Rauch, John B. Vice (Kennedy Weese), Katie (Greg) Keller; and his great grandchildren: Jayden Bishop, Brody Bishop, Jillian Abu-Seir, Elaina Abu-Seir, Carlee Abu-Seir, Colt Vice, Tripp Vice, Cole Porter and Christine Porter.
Dick is preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and his siblings: George William Vice, Margaret Rose Huddleston, and twin brother, James Allen Vice.
Memorials may be made to Edgar County Fair Association in honor of harness racing.
