Richard "Dick" Allen Ellingsworth, age 74 of Paris passed away at 9:55 A.M. on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Union Hospital.
Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Monday, September 18, 2023 at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at the funeral home. Burial with military rites will follow at 1:00 P.M. in Danville VA Cemetery in Danville, Illinois.
Dick was born on September 15, 1948 in Terre Haute, Indiana to Wesley Ted and Bertha (Pritchard) Austin. He married Linda Lou Arrasmith on March 7, 1970 in Paris and she survives.
Dick resided in Paris for over 50 years. In his younger years, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving two tours in Vietnam and then attended Ivy Tech and ISU. He was retired from Art Reese, and the Cereal Mill, worked on the Railroad and loved landscaping.
He was a member of the V.F.W Post 211 and Marine Corps League in Terre Haute, Indiana. Dick loved the outdoors and most certainly enjoyed winters in Phoenix. He was an avid IU Hoosier Fan. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, gardening, reading, walking, spending time with kids, grandkids, and his friends. He also enjoyed watching sports on TV, playing softball, pitching horseshoes, and playing cards.
He is survived by his wife, his children: Richard A. (Lisa) Ellingsworth Jr. of Paris, Nichole "Nikki" Sullivan of Paris; his grandchildren: Cameron (Niki) Limes of San Antonio, Texas, Alex (Sara) Fenza of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Layne Ellingsworth of Carbondale, Illinois, Josie Ellingsworth of Paris, Jude Sullivan of Mesa, Arizona, Grace Sullivan of Corpus Christi, Texas; his great grandchildren: River Limes of San Antonio, Texas, Alfonso Fenza of Albuquerque, New Mexico; his siblings: Wes Austin of Terre Haute, Indiana, Sharon Gibbons of Terre Haute, Indiana, Deborah Szatkowski of Terre Haute, Indiana; Many nieces and nephews and his sisters-in-law: Kay Boren of Paris and Brenda Hill of Bloomington, Indiana.
Dick is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.
Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Foundation.
