Reuben H. Baugues's Obituary

Reuben Harold "Bogie" Baugues, 88, passed away February 1, 2015 in Paris, Illinois. Bogie was born in Scottland, Illinois to the late Bernie & Ruth (Davis) Baugues on June 29, 1926. Bogie grew up in Kansas Illinois and worked on many farms as a lad. He felt the calling of his country and left to join the US Navy in 1944 and served over two years as S2/c aboard APD-104, USS William Pattison in the Pacific Theater during WWII. After receiving his honorable discharge from the Navy, Bogie came back to Paris Illinois and started his own trucking business. He married Viola F. "Vickie" Cantrell on Easter Sunday, March 28, 1948. They shared 59 years together before ovarian cancer took his beloved
wife from him in June 2007. He was also preceded in death by his sister, E. Roxanna (Baugues) Irish in 2012.
In 1953 Bogie went to work for Lovelace Trucking Company in Terre Haute Indiana; first as a peddle driver, delivering goods to various local businesses, later as an over the road driver hauling freight between many Lovelace terminals. He retired from Commercial Lovelace in 1984. Bogie was a proud member of the Teamsters Union 144/135, as well as a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church, American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Paris Illinois. After retiring from Lovelace, Bogie accepted a job with Paris District 95 tending to their lawns and
football field for several years. Bogie was an excellent gardener, at home he tended to many trees, flower beds, and managed his lawn to look like a park setting. He was also a skilled carpenter and built
many storage cabinets, book cases, and other furniture through the years. Bogie also enjoyed crafts; he and Vickie made mirror frames, lamps and figurines from seashells they had collected. He also made wooden silhouettes and figurines that Vickie painted and sold at their annual yard sale. Bogie & Vickie shared many vacations across the country, and enjoyed cruises to Mexico, the Bahamas, Caribbean, and Alaska. They enjoyed many winters in Florida with their fifth wheel camping trailer.
Bogie & Vickie had three sons, all who survive them. Keith (& Debbie) Baugues of Fishers, Indiana; Lloyd (& Margaret) Baugues of Glendale, Arizona; and Howard (& Virginia) Baugues of West Terre Haute, Indiana. Grandchildren: Erik, Greg, Jon and Michael Baugues, Amy (Baugues) Lafrentz, Leslie (Baugues) Summit, Emery, Patricia and Tina Jackson. Great-grandchildren: Haley, Kayte, Riley, Elizabeth, Evan, and Emma Baugues, Audree Lafrentz, Daniel Shiley, Olivia and Issabell Beedles, Mercedes Setzer, Hailey Summit, Angel and Eilene Hayes, Emery, Jason, Presly and Caleb Jackson, Sheryl Babine, Miranda Larrin
