Raymond L. Stanfield, age 82 of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Life's Journey Senior Living in Paris. Mr. Stanfield was a Civil Engineer for the Illinois Department of Transportation for 36 years, where he was the District Engineer of Project Implementation. He was a member of the Illinois Association of Highway Engineers. Mr. Stanfield had been a member of the Army Corps of Engineers with Rose Poly Technic. He attended the First Baptist Church in Paris. Ray was an avid tool collector and a well-known wood worker; he was also a member of Midwest Tool Collectors Association. He enjoyed restoring antiques. He was a graduate of Fayette Township High School and Rose Poly Technic Institute, presently Rose Hulman Institute of Technology.
Born October 11, 1935 in Vigo County, Indiana, he was the son of the late Paul Clifford and Cecile Pauline (McCleary) Stanfield. He married Donna Lankster November 29, 1988 in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
Survivors include his wife Donna Stanfield of Paris, Illinois, a son Mark Stanfield and his wife Becky of Markleville, Indiana, two step children, Jason Gore and his wife Avoree of Paris, Illinois and Tracee Beach of Hendersonville, Tennessee, a brother Ron Stanfield of Santee, South Carolina, and eight grandchildren; Caleb Stanfield of Fishers, Indiana, Elijah Stanfield of Pendleton, Indiana, Justin Beach of Rockford, Illinois, Jessica Beach of Hendersonville, Tennessee, and Colten, Conner, Carter, and Cross Gore, all of Paris, Illinois.
Visitation for Mr. Stanfield will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2018 in Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2018 in Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home with Pastor Troy Warner officiating. Burial will follow in Vermilion Cemetery.
