Raymond Arlen Peters, age 87 of Paris, Illinois passed away at 1:14 P.M. on Monday, February 5, 2024 at Horizon Health surrounded by family.

Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 12:30 P.M. on Tuesday at Edgar Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Post #211.

Raymond was born on November 24, 1936 in Paris, Illinois to Carl and Marguerite (Vandeventer) Peters. He married Elizabeth Ann Peters at First United Methodist Church in Paris in 1983. She preceded him in death.

Raymond proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army for 25 years. He later was a cook at the Bonton. Raymond was an animal lover, he loved to work and above all else, enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his step children: Dianna Metcalf, Kermin "Jocko" Tinkham; his grandchildren: Bessie Tinkham (Bart Kraemer), Ernest Tinkham (Kaileigh Brown); 1 great granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.

Raymond is preceded in death by his wife and his parents.
