Ramona Markewitz's Obituary
Ramona Markewitz, age 87 of rural Brocton, Illinois, passed away at 6:51 a.m. Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Pleasant Meadows Senior Living in Chrisman, Illinois. She was a homemaker and had been employed at Carter Shelter Care in Redmon, Illinois and Lenny's Pharmacy in Paris. She was member of Redmon Christian Church, Edgar County Farm Bureau, and the Ladies Aid at Redmon Christian Church. Ramona enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren, and decorating for the holidays. Born February 8, 1929 in Redmon, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Glenn and Muriel (Carrington) Gifford. She married Gene Markewitz December 5, 1948 at the Embarrass Church. Mr. Markewitz passed away October 31, 2008. Survivors include six children; Larry Markewitz of Brocton, Illinois, Charlie Markewitz and his wife Christine of Brocton, Illinois, Becky Krabel and her husband Dave of Paris, Illinois, Barbara Markewitz of Brocton, Illinois, Katrina Cooper and her husband Jim of Paris, Illinois, and Marquita Eckerty and her husband Don of Battle Creek, Michigan, a daughter-in-law Connie Deaton of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, a sister Marcella Reed of Terre Haute, Indiana, eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son Michael Markewitz, one brother Bill Gifford, and one sister Jean Ward. Visitation for Mrs. Markewitz will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, December 18, 2016 in Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home and from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 19, 2016 in Embarrass Church. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 19, 2016 in Embarrass Church. Burial will be in Embarrass Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Redmon Christian Church.
