Obituary

Penny Sue Bryan, 58, of Paris, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 11:40 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.

Born on June 14, 1968, in Terre Haute, Indiana, Penny was the beloved daughter of the late Richard D. Budd and Virginia (Moffitt) Budd.

Penny devoted many years of her life to caring for others as a Certified Nursing Assistant before embracing her most treasured role as a devoted wife and homemaker. She was a longtime member of Paris First Church of the Nazarene and had recently begun attending Bell Ridge Christian Church, where she continued to grow in her faith.

On December 12, 1987, Penny married the love of her life, Kevin R. Bryan, at the First Church of the Nazarene in Paris, Illinois. Together, they shared 38 wonderful years of marriage, building a life rooted in love, faith, and family.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 38 years, Kevin R. Bryan of Paris, Illinois; her three children, Tyra Cunningham (Sam) of Mattoon, Illinois, Joseph Budd (Ciarra) of Redmon, Illinois, and Teaki Bryan (James) of Paris, Illinois; her sister, Darla Hess of Terre Haute, Indiana; her brother, Richard Budd of Paris, Illinois; her eight beloved grandchildren, Kiersten, Keisha, Kalvin, Krista, Dylan, Haylee, Kacey, and Kalie; and her six precious great-grandchildren, Waylon, Ozzy, Cobie, Paisley, Harlyn, and Ember.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard D. Budd and Virginia (Moffitt) Budd; her sisters, Tonua Budd, Christi Daugherty, Pamela Johnson, Alice Nielson, and Wanita Budd; and her brother, James Budd.

Penny will be remembered for her kind heart, gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and the love she shared with everyone she met. She found joy in playing bingo, searching for hidden treasures at yard sales, and browsing thrift stores, always appreciating life’s simple pleasures. Her warmth, compassion, and quiet strength touched countless lives, and her memory will forever be treasured by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Stewart & Carroll Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at Stewart & Carroll Funeral Home with Pastor Gary A. Williamson officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Washington Street Cemetery in Casey, Illinois.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the many prayers, acts of kindness, and words of comfort shown during this difficult time.
