Peggy J. Poole, age 94, of Paris, Illinois passed away at 11:42 A.M. on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at Twin Lakes Rehab and Healthcare surrounded by family.
Visitation will be from 11:30 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Nurses Solute conducted by the Wabash Valley Nursing Honor Guard will be immediately after visitation. Funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Bro. Nate Alexander officiating. Burial will take place in Edgar Cemetery.
Peggy was born on June 13, 1930 in Salem, IL to Gerald Elmer and Martha Eileen (Seaney) Sears. She married Charles Alfred Poole on February 28, 1981 in Oblong, Illinois. He preceded her in death on January 10, 2016.
Peggy was a registered nurse at Paris Hospital for over 50 years where she was a nurse in the surgical department and the emergency room. She maintained her nursing license up until she was 92. She was also an EMT for the Edgar County Ambulance Service and helped with the Red Cross blood drives.
Peggy was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Paris. She was an avid reader; she was brilliant and remembered everything. She loved her cats and above all, loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Peggy is survived by her children: Dara Stickler (Mac), Diana McClintock; her stepdaughters: Loretta Boyer and Regina Poole; her grandchildren: John, Andrea, Rene, Rochelle, Anette, Amanda Roberts (Patrick) and Chad; her great grandchildren: Lily, Curtis, Jessica, Cierra, Jacob, Wyatt, Walker, Parker, Piper, Elizabeth, Austin, Kayla (Kendall Bombard), Tyler, Tara, Brooke, Summer; her great great grandchildren: Madison, Arland, Easton],Kennedy, Trenton, Ty, Brady, Raylan, Bo, Madelynn, Meridith, and Samuel.
Peggy is preceded in death by her husband, her son: Gregory Edward Fletcher and her parents.
Memorial contributions may be made to the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine.
