​Peggy Ann Neal, 72, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on July 20, 2025 after a brave and defiant 16-year battle with cancer.

Born on February 6, 1953 in Robinson, Illinois, Peggy was the daughter of Aubry and Betty (Matteson) Newlin. Peggy was a 1971 graduate of Paris High School, where she met the love of her life, Larry Neal. They married on April 24, 1976. Together they raised four children; and built a life centered on faith, family, and a sense of adventure. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Georgetown, Illinois.

​She is survived by her devoted husband of 49 years, Larry Neal. Their children: Jeremy (Elizabeth) Neal of Chrisman, Illinois; Lori (Steve) Craig of Terre Haute, Indiana; Kimberly (Dallas) Coats of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Christopher (Kara Bojko) Neal of Tryon, North Carolina. Her grandchildren: Jonathan, Amos, Rachel, and Matthew Neal; Roman (Jaimie) Craig; Olivia, Samuel, and Cooper Coats; Jack, Charlie, and Ben Neal as well as great-grandchildren, Evalynn and Silas Craig. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Tony.

​Peggy will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, treasured grandmother, and a loyal friend as well as for her kindness, loyalty to her family, and devout faith in Christ. She found joy in gardening, reading, sewing, and creating lasting memories with her family and friends. Whether she was crafting keepsakes, tending her garden, or sharing quiet moments with those she cherished most, Peggy's warmth, thoughtful nature, and enduring love will remain. Her legacy of faith, compassion, and joy will continue to shine a gentle light and provide warmth to all who shared time with her.

​Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home in Paris, Illinois. Service will be on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at 2:30 pm with burial to follow at Hoult Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Peggy's honor to the D.O. It Cancer Group of Edgar County or the Edgar County Diabetes Association.
