Pauline (Polly) F. Anderson, 92, of Paris, IL, passed away peacefully at her home at 2:59 a.m., Sunday, May 21, 2023.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Rosary will be prior at 4:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Paris. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Polly was born on December 18, 1930, in a rural area outside of Brocton, IL. She was the daughter and last living child of the late Jeremiah A. and Kathleen (Twigg) Fitzgerald. She was also the last living grandchild of the late Jeremiah and Mary (Logue) Fitzgerald. She married Earl R. Anderson on September 2, 1950, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Brocton, IL. He preceded her in death on February 25, 1978.
Survivors include seven children: Tom Anderson of Terre Haute, IN, Karen Edwards and her husband, Johnny Edwards, of Sullivan, IL, Jeannie Anderson of Posen, IL, Marge Anderson of Paris, IL, Anne Anderson of Honolulu, HI, Rob Anderson and his wife, Suzy Werneke Anderson, of Terre Haute, IN, and Cathy Anderson Turner of Richmond, IN; grandchildren, Clint Edwards, Ben Edwards, R.J. Forbes and his wife, Michelle Forbes, Gennifer Garvin and her husband, Matt Garvin, and Christopher Anderson; great grandchildren, Logan, Elliana, Camden, Grace, and Lydia, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ed Fitzgerald, Bernard Fitzgerald, and Jim Fitzgerald, and two sisters, Mary Blair and Marjorie Stewart.
Polly attended a one-room schoolhouse known as Golden Rule School located approximately one mile from her home. She was a graduate of Brocton High School. Following high school, she worked at Church Insurance Agency before going to work as a legal secretary for the law firm of Cotton & Massey, which later became Massey, Anderson & Gibson. Later, she worked for Anderson Law Offices until she retired in October 2017.
In her spare time, Polly was an avid reader, enjoyed baking cookies, and loved spending time with her family. She was a devoted wife and a wonderful, loving, and caring mother to her children.
Polly was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Paris, of which for many years she was an active member of Catholic Daughters of America and the Altar Society.
