Paul Gray Colter, age 89, of Paris, passed away at 12:15 a.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Paris Healthcare Center in Paris, Illinois.

Due to COVID-19, services will be private and restricted to immediate family only. Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Paul was born on October 10, 1931 in Lafayette, Tennessee the son of the late Elmer Lee and Mamie L. (Parker) Colter.

He married Dorothy A. Trine on October 23, 1954 in Shawneetown, Illinois.

Paul bought and sold grain for Farnham Grain, Englum Grain, and Cargil Inc.

He attended Paris Nazarene Church in Paris, Illinois and was a member of Horace Baptist Church in Edgar County, Illinois. Paul was also involved in the Edgar County Farm Bureau.

Paul is survived by his wife: Dorothy Colter of Paris, Illinois; his daughter: Shirley (Robert) Stoltz of Paris, Illinois; his grandchildren: Linda (Joel) Sherer of Paris, Illinois, Dale Colter of Paris, Illinois, Katherine (Cody) Vaughn of Paris, Illinois, Brian (Lauren) Stoltz of Charleston, Illinois, Lisa (Steve) Winters of Tolono, Illinois; his siblings: Luther (Paula Williams) Colter of Paris, Illinois, Fred Colter of Savoy, Illinois; and 9 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his son: Larry Colter; his daughter-in-law: Julia Williams Colter; his siblings: Dewey Colter, Randall Colter, Odell Colter, Agnes Jarrett, and Carol Moser.
