Paul E. Boyer, 98 of Paris, Illinois passed away at 8:15 P.M. on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at Paris Health and Rehab Center in Paris.
Mr. Boyer was previously employed at Chrisman Farm Center and with Hulman & Company. Mr. Boyer was a United States Air Force Veteran of World War II attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant in the 20th Air Force. During the Korean War, he was a Technical Seargeant in the 15th Air Force. He served primarily as a tail gunner in a B-29 but also saw action as a waste gunner and tail gunner in a B-24. He flew a total of 70 combat missions. Among his various medal and service awards were the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal (8 times).
He was born September 5, 1925 in Buck Township, Illinois to Raymond E. and Esther E. (Adams) Boyer. Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were his sons, Charles E. Boyer and Kenneth A. Boyer, a sister, Ruth Wilson and a brother Thomas Boyer. Survivors include a grandson Wesley Boyer of Justin, Texas and a sister Martha Reeley of Springfield, Illinois.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, September 5, 2024 in Edgar Cemetery in Paris with Military Honors conducted by the Paris American Legion Post #211. No visitation is scheduled. Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post #211 Honor Guard.
