Patrick E. Flanagan, age 89 of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 9:35 a.m. Thursday, December 1, 2016 at his residence. He retired in 1993 after 42 years of service from GTE where he was a switchman. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 860, American Legion Post 211, 40 et 8, and I.B.E.W. Mr. Flanagan was a United States Navy Veteran. Born October 18, 1927 in Paris, Illinois, he was the son of the late Joseph and Ethel (Morrow) Flanagan. He married Peggy (MacDonald) Flanagan February 23, 1957 in Jacksonville, Illinois; she passed away January 28, 2013. Survivors include two sons, Joseph Flanagan of Cape Coral, Florida and Steven Flanagan and his wife Ann of Garden City, New York, a sister Mary Jo Fiser and her husband Jim of Paris, Illinois, four grandchildren; Meghan and Brandon Flanagan, both of Indianapolis, Indiana and Tommy and Erin Flanagan, both of Garden City, New York, a nephew John Morrison of Springfield, Virginia, and a cousin Joe Sims of Chula Vista, California. The Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. Monday, December 5, 2016 with the visitation to follow from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday, in Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2016 in St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Ronald Hilt as Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery with Military Honors provided by American Legion Post 211 and VFW Post 3601.
