Norma Jane Thompson's Obituary
Norma Jane Thompson, born in Terre Haute, IN on October 24, 1926 died peacefully in her home in New Ipswich, NH on June 9, 2016. Norma joins her beloved husband Raymond (Lefty) Thompson who left her too soon on August 23, 1990. She was the daughter of Clarence Sater and Bernice Wilson Sater. In addition to her parents, Norma was predeceased by her loving sister Rose Vidito.
Norma lived for 85 years in Paris, IL, before relocating to New England to be with her son Thomas and his family.
Norma was employed for 27 years by the Department of Transportation as a secretary. She was a member of the Oliver Methodist Church, where she served on several committees. She greatly enjoyed playing the piano at church functions and the many lifelong friendships she made during the 50+ years she was a member.
Norma leaves behind her son Thomas Thompson and daughter-in-law Vivian of New Ipswich, NH. She is also survived by her husband's children, whom she loved dearly, Les Thompson of Austin, TX, and Kathy Lane of Carrollton, GA.
Norma was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren, Daniel Lane of Canton, GA, Scott Lane of Dalton, GA, Jennifer (Thompson) Munoz of Austin, TX, Michael Thompson of Austin, TX, Courtney (Thompson) Martineau of Lunenburg, MA, and, Whitney (Thompson) Beauregard of New Ipswich, NH. She also leaves behind seven great grandchildren Emily and Erin Lane of Canton GA, Caitlyn and Ethan Lane of Dalton, GA, Jillian and Maddison Martineau of Lunenburg, MA and Brooke Beauregard of New Ipswich, NH
Norma will greatly miss her two wonderful friends, Lillian Hurt and Denise Tingley.
No public services will be held at the request of the family.
Memorial donations may be made to Oliver Methodist Church, 550 IL Hwy 1, Marshall, IL 62441.
