Norma Elaine (Bauer Meyer) Nelson, 96, formerly of Chicago Heights, passed away at her home in Paris, IL on Jan. 15, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Arthur "Art" Meyer in 1985 and her husband of 27 years, James "Jim" Nelson in 2014. Loving mother of Rev. Dr. Dale (Diane) Meyer, Bruce (late Carol) Meyer, Pam Meyer and late Baby Arthur Jr. Sister of late Robert "Bob" (Joan) Bauer, late David (late Audrey) Bauer, Dennis (Dorothy "Dottie") Bauer, Susan Lundin and Barry (Marilyn) Lundin. Grandmother of Elizabeth (Darren) Pittman, Katie (Charlie) Bailey, Stephanie (Chris) Heeran and Dr. Brad (Sahr) Meyer. Great-grandmother of Christian, Connor and Nicholas Pittman; Andrew and Jacob Bailey; Samantha, Zachary, Eliza, Madelyn and Benjamin Heeran; Sophia Meyer. First born child of the late Arnold (late Emmy) Bauer and late Wanda (late Dick) Lundin, Norma was proud of her born and raised in Chicago Heights heritage, Bloom Class of 1943. She was a secretary for Nelson Landscaping and Busy Bee Nursery in Chicago Heights along with countless hours of volunteer work for St. Paul's and for St. James Hospital. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Lutheran Legacy Foundation-Meyer-Nelson Scholarship Fund, St. Paul's Lutheran Church or Grace Lutheran Church in Paris, IL. Visitation will be held on Fri., Jan. 20th from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL and on Sat., Jan. 21st from 1:00 p.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 330 W. Highland Dr. Chicago Heights, IL 60411, Rev. Matthew Dubensky and Rev. Stephen Starke officiating. Interment at St. Paul's Cemetery, Flossmoor, IL. Services will be scheduled at a later date in Paris. Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home assisted the family.
