Harpring
April 4, 1931 – February 15, 2023
Norma Jean Harpring, loving wife and mother, 91, of Paris passed away on February 15 th, 2023. She was born on April 4 th, 1931 in Paris, Illinois, the daughter Lurista and Priscilla Turner Fox. Norma married Donald Lee Harpring on November 13th, 1948. She was preceded in death by her husband Don, two siblings, Donald and Maurice Fox, and one grandchild, Tina Virgil.
Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home, with burial in Memorial Gardens in Paris.
Norma is survived by two sons, Gary (Carole) Harpring of Naples FL, and Jeffrey (Nancy) Harpring of Sherman, IL; five grandchildren, Douglas Harpring, Cameo (Dale) Christner, Catrina (deceased) Virgil (Edward), Katie Marie (Aaron) Cory, and Gregory Harpring, four great grandchildren; Bridget Christner, Wyatt Christner, Noah Virgil and Ethan Virgil.
Norma was a devoted mother and wife, who enjoyed raising her family with her husband. In1948, Norma married Don, her high school sweetheart, which she would go on to share a happy marriage with for sixty-nine and a half wonderful years.
Norma loved playing cards with friends and her family and was an active member of the WNO card club for many years. Norma also loved to spoil her family by making them wonderful home cooked meals each day.
She was also a talented artist who was able to learn the art of oil painting nature scenes from several artists, including Brown County Artist Dwight Steininger. Norma loved to travel with Don to the Indiana Covered Bridge Festival, where they would set up a booth to display and sell their hand-made crafts and oil paintings.
Norma and Don helped provide a positive influence on teens, while they enjoyed working with T.E.C. (Teens Encounter Christ) program, as well as their time with Cursillo retreats for adults, through the Catholic Church.
After Don's retirement, Norma and Don enjoyed spending their Winters in the warmer climate of Fort Myers Florida, traveling to nearby Flea markets, doing various activities in their campground, or just spending quality time with each other, and the many friends and family that would visit them.
