Nila F. Denson, age 79, of Paris, Illinois passed away at 5:15 a.m. on Monday, February 22, 2021 at Twin Lakes Rehab Center.
In keeping with State of Illinois mandates due to COVID-19 Pandemic, everyone attending the service must wear a mask while inside the funeral home. Everyone is welcome but we ask that you keep your visit short so that all who wish to pay their respects may do so.
A visitation will be from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home in Paris, Illinois, with a funeral service following. Burial will be in Augustus Cemetery in Grandview Township.
Nila was born on February 27, 1941, in Paris, Illinois the daughter of the late Sam Huston and Ruby Good.
She was first married to Billy John Farris, with whom she had several children. Nila then married Kenneth Denson on June 17, 1973 in Cedar Lake, Indiana.
Nila loved to cook and share her recipes through her catering business, Nila's Cake of Wonders. She was also a cook in the St. Mary's Catholic Church Rectory.
She was active in the Nazarene Church of Paris, as well as the VFW 3601 Auxiliary, Eagles Auxiliary, and Bunco Club.
Nila is survived by her husband: Kenneth Denson of Paris, Illinois; her children: Tonya Hardway of Paris, Illinois, Kevin (Cindy) Farris of Vermillion, Illinois, Leeann (Juan) Guerra of Valparaiso, Indiana, Kenneth (Cindy) Denson II, Dustin Denson of Peoria, Illinois; her grandchildren: Allen, Tommy, Jeffrey, Christy, Misty, Rusty, Shane, Brandi, K.C., Kyle, Tulsa, Karen, Kevin, Tiffany; as well as several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Sam Huston and Ruby (Good) Huston Philips; her first husband: Billy John Farris; her sister Viola Baugues; her daughter Tammy Farris and two infant daughters.
Memorials may be made to the Nazarene Church in Paris, Illinois.
