Nellie G. Parks's Obituary
Nellie G. Parks, age 97 of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 10:45 p.m. Monday, January 19, 2015 in Paris Health Care Center, Paris, Illinois. She was a secretary for Zenith Corp. and was an active member of First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ. Nellie enjoyed gardening, African Violets and eating with her friends. Born July 29, 1917 in Paris, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Viola (Jones) Surber. She married Raymond Parks, he preceded her in death in 1962. Survivors include a daughter Karen Newhart and her husband Larry of Paris, Illinois, three grandchildren; Stacy Carrington of Mattoon, Illinois, Zia Moon of Mansfield, Illinois and James Parks and his wife Elizabeth of Fullerton, California, one step-granddaughter Nita Beth Comstock and her husband Steve of Paris, Illinois, four great grandchildren; Sasha Newhart of Mattoon, Illinois, Seth Newhart of Mattoon, Illinois, Kassidy Parks of Fullerton, California and Christopher Parks of Fullerton, California, two great-great grandchildren, Mackenzie Newhart and Cody Newhart and two daughters-in-law, Corky Parks of Paris, Illinois and Julia Parks Riggen of Fullerton, California. She was preceded in death by three children; Don Parks, Dennis L. Parks and Marilyn Parks, two brothers, John Surber and Forrest Surber and three sisters; Nila Rhoads, LaVern Rhoads and Almerta Hickman.

Visitation for Mrs. Parks will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 22. 2015 in Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home with funeral services to follow at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Rev. Michael Dixon will officiate. Burial will be in Edgar Cemetery.
