Mary Jane (Watson) Sunkel, age 78, of Paris, Illinois passed away at 8:40 A.M. on Thursday, October 13, 2022 in Horizon Health Paris Community Hospital.

Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Edgar Cemetery.

Jane was born on August 13, 1944 in Paris, Illinois. She is the daughter of the late Harlan and Kathryn Jane (Harris) Watson. She married Eugene Everett Sunkel in April of 1982. He preceded her in death.

Jane was a longtime and active member at Bell Ridge Christian Church in Paris. She was a member of the Walter Burdick Chapter of D.A.R., Ladies Aide and Eunice, and the Edgar County Historical Society. Jane enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and Fox News. She also enjoyed traveling, skiing, hiking, listening to Rush Limbaugh, and she always sent greeting cards.

She is survived by her children: Cathy (Justin) Price of Paris, Illinois, Mary Lewis of Old Lyme, Connecticut, Nicole Sunkel of Atlanta, Georgia, Justin (Marisa) Sunkel of Paris, Illinois; three grandchildren; two nieces: Carrie White, Patricia Gequillana; and two great nieces; Chloe and Emily.

Jane is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister, Barbara Morin.
