Mary Catherine Robinson, age 88 of Alexandria, Virginia and formerly of Paris, Illinois, passed away March 6, 2017 at her home. Visitation for Mrs. Robinson will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 17, 2017 at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Bro. Don Pruiett officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Westfield, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made to the Navy Relief Society.

Pall bearers are her grandsons Jason and Eric Gretschel, great-grandsons Jack and Isaac Vilchis, Garrett Gretzschel, and grandson-in-law Jesse Vilchis.

She was born June 7, 1928 the daughter of the late Homer Franklin Funkhouser  and Nellie Coral Trogdon. She married John Waldo Robinson October 25, 1947 in Paris and he passed away January 3, 2001

A retired homemaker, Mary Kay raised five children as a Navy wife.  When Jack was onboard ship, she was essentially a single parent.  Navy orders took them to San Diego, Norfolk , and Memphis where Jack retired.  She lived independently in Memphis until moving to Alexandria VA where she would be close to two of her children.

Mary Catherine is survived by her children: Mary Elizabeth Gretzschel (John) of St Louis MO, Katherine Sue McIsaac (William) of Alexandria VA, Ellen Robinson Davies (Alwyn) of Vacaville CA, Bryant Lee Robinson (Christiana) of Culpeper VA, and Daniel Pursell Robinson (Rebecca) of Temecula CA; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brothers and their wives: C. Franklin Funkhouser (Ruth Anna) and James S. Funkhouser (Mary Alice).
