Obituary

Mary Frances "Fran" McClarey, 74, of Paris, IL passed away 6:25 a.m. Sunday August 19, 2012 at Twin Lakes Rehab Center in Paris. She graduated from Paris High School in 1955 and from Danville Jr. College July 16, 1976 with a nursing degree. Mary loved nursing and on several occasions was awarded "Nurse of the Month". She was a nurse at Paris Health Care Center, Paris, Heritage Convalescent Care Center, Paris, Pleasant Meadows Christian Village, Chrisman, and Continental Manor, Newman.

Mary was Madam President three times, Conductor and Chaplin of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles 4000 Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of Lake Ridge Christian Church, V.F.W. 3601 Auxiliary and the American Legion Post 211 Auxiliary.

She was a free spirit and made many people happy. She will be deeply missed.

Mary was born October 4, 1937 in Paris, IL the daughter of the late Maurice "Spud" and Leola Querry Johnson. She married Donald McClarey June 15, 1987 and he passed away in 1991.

She is survived by her children Carol Sehlke and her husband Mike of Spring, TX, Brandon Edwards of Paris, Tammi Underfanger and her husband Gary, Sr. of Springfield, IL, Patrick Davis and his wife Carol of New Symerna, FL; her grandchildren Jeromey McCulloch and his wife Bobbie of Champaign, IL, Gary Lee Underfanger II and his wife Amanda of Springfield, IL, Brian Scott Davis of New Smyrna, FL, Melissa Underfanger of Springfield, IL and Mandy Powell and her husband Branden of Springfield, IL; her brother Art Johnson and his wife Nancy of Weeki Wachee, FL; her ten great-grandchildren; her step-sons Donald McClarey and Larry McClarey. She also leaves behind her dear, life-long friend Beverly Lawlyes of Paris; her extended family Brenda Rhoads and her daughter Leanna of Paris; and her beloved dog Charlie. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her two brothers Donald and William Johnson, her sister Peggy Peebles and her extended family member Toni Rhoads.

Following cremation a memorial celebration of life for Mrs. McClarey will be 1 p.m. Saturday August 25, 2012 in Lake Ridge Christian Church, Paris with Pastor Shane Mullians officiating. A meal will follow the celebration of life at the VFW in Paris. Donations in memory of Mary may be made to Twin Lakes Rehab Center. Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home assisted with the arrangements.
