Mary Agnes (Walsh) Englum, 96, of Paris, IL died at 6:00 AM Wednesday (December 28, 2022) at Carmel Health and Living Community, Carmel, Indiana.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 6, 2023, at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 528 Main St. Paris, IL. The Rev. Valery Burusu will officiate. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic cemetery in Paris, Illinois, following mass. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM leading with rosary at 3:30 PM on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home, 303 East Wood St., Paris, Illinois.
Mrs. Englum was born April 23, 1926, in Ivesdale, third of eight children to John Thomas Walsh Sr. and Marie Wood Walsh. "On a beautiful fall day on September 23, 1944, Eugene 'Gene' J. Englum of St. Mary's Parish married Mary Agnes Walsh of St. Joseph's Parish of Ivesdale, Illinois." Her beloved husband, Eugene Joseph, preceded her in death on May 28, 1993.
She is survived by, sister, Rita Henneberry of Toulon, brother, Tom Walsh of Decatur, son-in-law, Frank Bader of Ft. Wayne, and, daughter-in-law, Rita Englum of Indianapolis. Survivors also include grandchildren: Jess Bader (Heather) of Chicago, Joe Bader (Kristen) of Ft. Wayne, Jeni Rutledge of Dayton, Dr. Brian Englum (Ren) of Baltimore, Jacki McNulty (Sean) of Carmel, and Lynn Englum (Aimée) of New York City; great-grandchildren: Joe Bader, Charlie Bader, Drew Bader, Kate Rutledge, Charlie Rutledge, Clare Rutledge, Pax Englum, Taran Englum, Fitz McNulty, and Josie McNulty. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Jack Walsh, Ray Walsh, Cecelia Walsh Curl, Catherine Walsh Koebel, and George Walsh, and her children: Dr. Patricia Bader, Robert Englum, Bernard Englum, Michaelena Englum,and, three children in infancy, Mary Catherine Englum, Linda Ann Englum, and Frederick Paul Englum.
Mary was a beloved spouse, mother, and grannie. Mary managed the family farm for 30 years and was a talented seamstress and cook. She was a librarian and an active member of St. Mary's parish as a Eucharistic Minister, a lector, and a team-leader of RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults). She was a member of the Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters of America. Mary and Gene enjoyed square dancing and clogging together. Mary is remembered as a devout Catholic who was wholly devoted to the love and care of her precious family.
