Martha Reeley, age 95 of Springfield, Illinois, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2024 in Hospice care at the Bridge. She worked in the Edgar County Treasurer's Office for sixteen years as Chief Deputy and then served as Treasurer of Edgar County from 1982 – 1990. She was also the first elected woman in Edgar County. Martha was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church in Paris, Illinois.

Born February 22, 1929 in Paris, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Raymond E. and Esther E. (Adams) Boyer. She married John R. Reeley on July 5, 1947 at the home of her parents in Dudley, Illinois. He preceded her in death on July 8, 2012.

Survivors include a daughter Madelyn Woodruff of Springfield, Illinois, one son Terry Reeley of Mattoon, Illinois, one daughter-in-law Dani Reeley of Paris, Illinois, five grandchildren: Michelle Gannar and Marla Woodruff of Springfield, Illinois, Tony (Jennifer) Reeley of Charleston, Illinois, Tyler Reeley of Mattoon, Illinois, and Tiffany Reeley of Paris, Illinois, and seven great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

Martha was preceded in death by her son S. Mark Reeley, two brothers Thomas R. Boyer and Paul E. Boyer, and a sister Ruth Wilson.

Visitation for Mrs. Reeley will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. following visitation at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery.
