Margaret Rose Phillips's Obituary
Margaret Rose Phillips age 90 of Paris, IL passed away at 11:47 p.m., Saturday October 21, 2017 in Paris Community Hospital. Before her health declined, she was an active member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, in Paris, having been involved in several ministries in the church.
Visitation for Mrs. Phillips will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Wednesday October 25, 2017 in Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Contributions in Margaret's memory may be made to the American Heart Association, the American Lung Association or the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ.
Margaret was born August 19, 1927 in Paris the second child of three children, to Edward "Dutch" Butler and Pearl Fletcher Butler. She lived her entire life in Paris graduating from Paris High School in 1946.
She married Kenneth J. Phillips on September 20, 1947. Kenneth died June 18, 2014.
The couple had two sons, Richard Phillips, who passed away suddenly on September 14, 2014, and Tom (Linda) Phillips of rural Chrisman. She also has four grandsons Matt Phillips of CA, Chris Phillips of Terre Haute, IN, Andrew Phillips of Phoenix, AZ, Brad (Megan) Phillips of Dennison; two great-grandsons Brockton and Maddox. Margaret's great-grandson Maddox turned 1 the day after Margaret's 90th birthday. Margaret was preceded in death by her sister Mary Butler and her brother Dean Butler.
She was a homemaker and was a clerk at Paris Automotive Warehouse. Margaret was the financial secretary at the First Christian Church. After retirement Mrs. Phillips, along with her husband became the custodians at the church.
She enjoyed spending time with her family.
