Lydia Georgiana McIntosh, age 82 of Paris, Illinois, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday morning, December 11, 2017. Lydia was born December 25, 1934 in Menard, Texas, the daughter of the late Rafael and Rosa (Urteaga) Sanchez. She was a cosmetologist in her own salon for at least 48 years. She was an active member of the E.U.B. Church in Redmon, Illinois, where she served as a Sunday School teacher as well as assisting with Vacation Bible School. After moving to Paris, Illinois, she was active in the Trinity United Methodist Church and then Lake Ridge Christian Church. She leaves behind her husband of 60 years Max McIntosh, a son Rafael Allen McIntosh of Westfield, Indiana and his wife Jana, a daughter Gloria Rosés and her husband Victor of Ann Arbor, Michigan, a grandson James Nathan McIntosh, a step-grandson Peter Cozzi, siblings; Gilbert Sanchez, Thomas Sanchez, and Josephine Gloria, all of Kansas, and Mary Sanchez and Hope Sosa, both of Texas, a sister-in-law Faye McIntosh of Paris, several nieces and nephews, great, and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter Alenah Rosés, and siblings; Sam, Raymond, Jimmy, and Lewis Sanchez. Lydia lived life to the fullest as a wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an avid gardener, taking great pride in her flowers. She was also an excellent seamstress and decorator. She never met a stranger and she helped so many people in her life. She was also a very active member of her community. She served as president of the Edgar County Grandmother's Club # 526 from 2001 to 2002, president of the B.P.W., received the woman of the year award of the B.P.W. Club in 1983, was a Gold Circle member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Worthy Matron, as well as served other offices of the Paris Chapter # 7 of the Order of the Eastern Star, was involved with the Pregnancy Crisis Center, directed Holiday in the Park lighting and parade, and spearheaded the Jerry Lewis Telethon for Muscular Dystrophy. Visitation for Mrs. McIntosh will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 15, 2017 at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Embarrass Cemetery.
