Linda C. Ballard, age 86 of Paris, Illinois passed away at 9:00 P.M. on Friday, September 6, 2024 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois

Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home with Fr. Aloysius Ndeanaefo officiating. Burial will take place in Memorial Gardens.

Linda was born on July 13, 1938, in Louisville, Kentucky to Noah G. and Mary (Boone) Oakes. She is survived by her husband Eugene E. "Dean" Ballard. They were married on July 16, 1956, at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Hume, Illinois.

She is also survived by her children: Norman Ballard of Terre Haute, Indiana, Kenneth (Judy) Ballard of Sevierville, Tennessee, Vicki Ballard of Paris, Illinois; and survived by grandchildren: Kirk (Cindy) Ballard, Christina (Shawn) Chandler, Leslie (Tim) Bauchman, Katie Ballard, Cody Ballard; and survived by 11 great grandchildren.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents and 2 siblings: Daniel Oakes (Betsy Jo, still surviving) and Timothy Oakes (Darling, still surviving). She has 7 surviving siblings: Patricia Cash, Gary (Darlene) Oakes, Rebecca (Keith) Kraemer, Gerald (Lynette) Oakes, Janet (Larry) Cash, Debra Whitlaw, and Sheila (George) Haworth.

Linda was a secretary for the Edgar County Sheriff's Department starting under Sheriff Jack Hood and retiring under Sheriff Karl Farnham. She volunteered for the Edgar County Genealogy Library and won The Edith Steven's award. She was a member of the Boy Scouts of America of which she was a den mother through the Wabash Valley Council. She loved to quilt, embroider, and sew. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and a very special niece, Kami Kraemer.
