John Joseph "Lum" Edwards's Obituary
John Joseph "Lum" Edwards, age 66 of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 12:50 p.m. Saturday, September 17, 2016 at his residence. He was retired from Blaw-Knox where he was a union worker. He also had been a truck driver. Lum was a member of the Sons of the American Legion. He was avid Paris Schools sports fan and he received the Paris Athletic Booster Club's Fan of the Year Award for the 2012-2013 season. He loved helping people and never met a stranger. He also enjoyed music and dancing. Born July 28, 1950, he was the son of the late David Hughes "Lum" Edwards and the late Jennie Edith (Trine) Edwards. Survivors include his daughters Amy Michele Edwards of Paris, Illinois and Lisa Marlene Edwards of Paris, Illinois. a grandson Xavier Holt of Charleston, Illinois, four siblings; Norman R. Edwards of Robstown, Texas, Beverly J. (Louis) Ross of Bagdad, Arizona, William "Shine" Edwards of Paris, Illinois, and Lawrence (Jo Ellen) Edwards of Paris, Illinois, and a life-long family friend Kenny Hays of Paris, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Mary Martha Turpen. A celebration of life will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, September 25, 2016 at the Paris VFW. The family requests that those attending please bring a covered dish to share. Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Senior Center, Paris Athletic Booster Club, or to the family.
