John Joseph Hogan, age 99, of Paris, passed away at 1:18 a.m., Wednesday, August 25, 2021 in the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, Illinois.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 30, 2021 in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Paris, Illinois, with burial following in Arcola Township Cemetery in Arcola, Illinois. Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home is assisting the family.

John was born December 5, 1921 in Decatur, Illinois the son of the late Charles and Ella Tomlinson Hogan. He first married Jean Nein Hogan; she preceded him in death in 1951. John later married Madonna Moore on July 16, 1955 in Mattoon, Illinois. She passed away on July 5, 2005.

He proudly served his country in World War 2 as a member of the United States Navy. After his military service, John became a farmer. He was a longtime and active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Paris, Illinois, as well as St. John's Catholic Church in Arcola, Illinois. John was also a member of the American Legion Post 211 in Paris, Illinois, and the Knights of Columbus 4 th Degree Assembly 219 of Paris.

John is survived by his children: Mike (Nancy) Hogan of Paris, Illinois, Sandra (Steve) Menke of Tucson, Arizona, Mark Hogan of Paris, Tina Kennedy of Quincy, Illinois; his 6 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and his brother Daniel Hogan of Macon, Illinois.

He is preceded in death by his son: Andrew Kenneth Hogan; 2 grandchildren; 7 brothers and 2 sisters.
