Janet Faye Hefner, age 88, of Marshall, Illinois passed away at 9:22am on Monday, August 17, 2026, at her home surrounded by family.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Graveside service will immediately follow at 12:15 PM at Franklin Cemetery near Chrisman, Illinois with Randy Black officiating.

Janet was born on February 16, 1938, in Chrisman, Illinois to Commadore P. and Abbie (Starkey) Walls. She married James H. Hefner on October 11, 1960, in Paris, Illinois and he preceded her in death.

Janet worked as a janitor at the Clark County Courthouse and was also a devoted homemaker. She found great joy in spending time with her grandchildren. Janet also loved flowers, enjoyed playing bingo, and could often be found listening to the music of Elvis Presley.

Janet is survived by her children: James E. Hefner (Leslie) of Brownsburg, IN, Debra Kay Jodry of Hermitage, TN, Terri Lynn Thompson (Randy) of Martinsville, IL, Kenneth Hefner (Pam) of Marshall, IL, Vicki Reynolds (Steve) of Martinsville, IL, Cindy Williams (Randy) of Fort Meyers, FL, Troy Hefner of Marshall, IL; her 18 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her siblings: Max Walls, Perry Walls, Lee Walls, Bob Walls, Donnie Walls, Ada Eslinger, Beth Grisham, Ida Bell McDaniel, and Albert Walls.
