"Tom" Morrisey

James Thomas "Tom" Morrisey, 96, passed away at Horizon Health March 12, 2025, at 2:53 pm. Tom was born in Mattoon, IL, to Herbert and Gertrude Morrisey on June 16, 1928. He married Mary Ann Savoree October 10, 1959, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Paris, IL. She preceded him in death July 30, 2013.
Tom is survived by their five children, James Thomas Morrisey Jr. of Paris; Sheila (Joe) Keys of Paris; Mary Theresa (Jim) Frisz of Paris; Joe (Kim) Morrisey of Kansas, IL; and Pat (Rachelle) Morrisey of Jacksonville, IL. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, Chip (Beth) Keys; Ryan Keys (Hillary Patrick); Kelli Keys; Shelbi (Judd)Keys Rhoads); Jake (Laurie) Keys; Katie (Daniel Schopmeyer); and Callie (Logan) Keys Cannady all of Paris; Jamie (Greg) Punzelt of Fishers, IN; Jill (Nick) Cucinella of Robinson, IL; Jackie (Cody) Owen of Evansville, IN; Marissa, Meredithe, and Hugar Morrisey of Kansas, IL; and Tate and Jett Morrisey of Jacksonville, IL. Tom also has 26 great-grandchildren, one more due in May and another in August.
Tom is also survived by his sister Mary Crowl, and brother Larry Morrisey, as well as brothers-in-law Kevin Savoree and Mark Savoree and sister-in-law Linda Savoree. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers John and Bill Morrisey.
Tom was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Paris American Legion, and the Korean Veterans Organization. He was a farmer and the owner of Morrisey Farm Drainage for many years. Tom was an avid fan of the St Louis Cardinals, Indiana Hoosiers, Paris Tigers, and Tri County Lady Titans Basketball team. One of his greatest joys was attending any of his grandchildren and great grandchildren's activities but he especially loved watching his son Joe coach basketball—and was always ready to supply a critique of the game, wanted or unwanted! Tom also loved to read books about American history and loved his dog Luke. Tom never met a stranger and enjoyed talking to anyone. He was always ready to go visit, sightseeing, or just for a drive. Tom will be missed immeasurably by his family.
Visitation will be held at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home Tuesday, March 18, from 4-6 pm, with Rosary to be recited following the visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, March 19, at St. Aloysius, at 10 am. Burial to follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Paris American Legion Post #211. Family asks that memorial donations be made to Paris JFL and Tri County Lady Titans High School Basketball.
