James Leo Starr's Obituary

James Leo Starr "Starman", 62, of Paris, passed away at 3:22 a.m. on Friday, June 10, 2022, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.

A visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home in Paris, with a memorial service to follow at 4:00 P.M.

Jim was born on December 23, 1959, the son of the late Phillip Starr and the late Betty Cleary (Ray) Seaney.

He married Karen Beth Poore on June 19, 1982, at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Paris. She survives.

Jim worked for the Quaker Oats Company in Danville, IL for 25 years as a manufacturing operator. He also spent time as a surveyor for an oil pipeline, truck driver, and a farmhand. Jim was active in the community through his time with various organizations, such as the Edgar County Shrine Club, Eagles Club, and the Paris Masonic Lodge #268.

He is survived by his children: Lindsey (Josh) Cogan of Decatur, IL, Michael Starr of Paris, and Adam Starr of Paris; his grandchildren: Kandrey Cogan, Hayleigh Cogan, Kassidy Cogan, Caide Cogan, Shayleigh Starr, Shiyah Starr, Haysten Starr, Graisyn Starr; his great-grandchildren: Kylan Wilder, and one on the way; his siblings: Mark (Donna) Starr of Virginia Beach, VA, Kellie (Tom) Gates of Paris, Darlena (Mike) Elledge of Paris; and several nieces and nephews.

James is preceded in death by his brother: Scott Seaney; and his two infant twin sisters: Antonette and Tonette Seaney.

Memorials may be made to the Edgar County Shrine Club.
