James L. Shields, Jr., age 61, of Paris, Illinois passed away at 11:36 A.M. on Sunday, September, 2021 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.

A graveside service is scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Monday, October 4, 2021 at Vermillion Cemetery in Vermillion, Illinois. Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home is assisting the family.

He was born on May 10, 1960 in Long Beach, California. The son of the late James L. Shields, Sr. and Emley (Lankster) Shields Hylton and his step-father, Oliver Hylton who loved him as his own son.

During his years, James worked for G.E. in Terre Haute, Indiana as a fabricator.

He is survived by his siblings: Theresa Wheat of Huntington Beach, California, Connie (Ronnie) Nemeth of Evans, Washington, Patricia Tomlinson of Paris, Illinois; his nephews and nieces: Jimmy Tomlinson of Paris, Illinois, Raquel Nemeth of Orange, California, Ronald Nemeth of Colville, Washington, Jerry Soper III of Huntington Beach, California, Andrew Soper of Upland, California, Nicole Wheat of Los Angeles, California, Valorie Recob of Ogema, Wisconsin.
